Step 1, Birth-6 months (If following Tizzie’s advice you will stay on this one until around 14 months when you move to A2 full cream milk)
Specially formulated for infants who are being formula fed from birth, or for when incorporating with or moving on from breastfeeding within the first six months. It is nutritionally complete, providing key ingredients essential to support growth and development. This exclusive formulation is based on a unique protein blend where the beta-casein protein comes from cows specially selected to produce the A2 beta-casein protein exclusively rather than A1 and may help support comfortable digestion.
a2PLATINUM® explained, for when exclusive formula feeding or complementary feeding is needed*
The base milk powder in a2PLATINUM® is naturally sourced from cow’s milk. However, the milk powder in a2PLATINUM® comes from cows specially selected to produce only the naturally occurring A2 type of the beta-casein protein (rather than the A1 beta-casein type). This sets it apart from other infant formula and follow-on formula.
Why is the beta-casein profile of a2 MilkTM relevant?
Beta-casein comprises around 30% of the protein contained in cow’s milk. Beta-casein may be present as one of two major genetic variants; A1 and A2 type beta-casein. a2PLATINUM® Premium Infant Formula and Follow-on Formula contain base milk powder that has been sourced from cows specially selected to produce only the A2 type, to the exclusion of A1 beta-casein. The A2 beta-casein is recognised as being the progenitor beta-casein gene in dairy cattle. The A1 beta-casein protein developed following a genetic mutation in European dairy herds several thousands of years ago.

Tizzie says in her feeding book:
Stepped formulas
Many of the formulas described above are also subdivided into two or three ‘steps’ or ‘stages’ according to the baby’s age. Basically, each step is the same base formula with additional ingredients added for different stages of a baby’s development.
•   Step one also known as stage one or starter formula: is for newborns to six or twelve months, depending on the brand.
•   Step two also known as stage two, progress and follow-on milk: this is marketed as a formula for babies aged six months and older as it contains more iron and protein than step one formula.
•   Step three also known as stage three and toddler milk: developed for toddlers aged twelve months or older. It contains supplemental vitamins and minerals.
In my experience it’s best to buy only a step one formula in Australia, regardless of your baby or toddler’s age. Recently I have become aware of problems when babies are introduced to step two formulas. I have many clients contact me when their six-and-a-half month old, previously contented baby suddenly starts catnapping, early-rising and night-waking and, in some cases, vomiting. After careful consideration and ruling out many things I have found the one thing that most of these babies have in common is they have been started on step two formulas. After advising parents to move back to the step one formula the babies have returned to their happy, settled and well-rested selves again. If you are following my advice for feeding solids, your baby will obtain enough protein and iron from his food so there is no nutritional benefit to be gained from switching to a step two formula.
I have seen very similar problems when parents try to introduce their twelve-month-old baby to cow’s milk or step three formula, which contains large amounts of sugar. (I talk extensively about cow’s milk later in this book on page 190, and for information on weaning to cow’s milk see page 191.) While this problem does not affect all babies, my advice is to keep your baby on step one formula from birth through toddlerhood until he is ready to drink cow’s milk.

I can’t believe how fast our Formula got delivered and how beautiful the staff were to deal with. We were down to our last tin and this formula is completely out of stock everywhere near where I live. Not only did they get the formula to me in 2 days but they contacted me to check we had enough formula to feed bub with in the meantime! Above and beyond customer service. Thankyou. I will be a customer now of SOS until bubs ready to move on!!

This formula is the only one that doesn’t upset my baby’s tummy and it is so expensive to buy at the supermarkets. I am so great full that I’ve found somewhere that sells it at a discounted price and allows me to buy in bulk so I don’t have to worry about it for several weeks at a time.
I was having trouble ordering after the new website launched and Tizzie called my directly and offered her assistance and got the order sent by the next day. Great customer service is an understatement. Thank you!
